Apps we travel with

Apart from an Aguri SatNav, which has built-in software, we use five or six apps to plan campsites on the go and beforehand. Here's a quick introduction to them. Perhaps you use some or all of them already, but if you don't, they are worth trying out. Please let us know in the comments what you think. https://youtu.be/SbWDKpnKAvE

Quiet campsite in the Lake District but don't tell everyone

We stayed - again - at Burns Farm Caravan and Campsite near Keswick. We took a short walk to nearby Tewet Tarn. This is a very easy walk from the campsite. Having been a second time now, we can see that there's constant improvements being made. Everywhere is tidy and the facilities are clean. The shop has opened, although only certain hours of the day.  Burns Farm ///wished.magnitude.cornering https://w3w.co/wished.magnitude.corne...   Tewet Tarn ///acclaim.enveloped.toasted https://w3w.co/acclaim.enveloped.toasted Watch the video  https://youtu.be/opQq3O7xz5g

Orton Ridge and The Station Inn, Ribblehead

We stayed a night at Orton Ridge not far, but out off earshot of the M6, and the following morning moved on to The Station Inn at Ribblehead to take in the scenery around the Ribblehead Viaduct. Orton Ridge is a handy stopover, suggested on Search For Sites (app). We were joined by a few other camper vans and motor homes.  Watch the video on YouTube  https://youtu.be/NSBV-8ktaRQ We don't often do so-called 'wildcamping' locations, so if you choose to, please leave no trace, respect the countryside, and keep to the rules which are for everyone's benefit. Remember, in England, wild camping, stopovers and sleeping in your vehicle can get you a grey area. Generally, it's not permitted as most land is privately owned, but by the same token it's not illegal. You may be asked to move and not doing so can lead to aggravated trespass which IS a criminal offence. Just be sensible! Motorhome payload explained

Vehicle weights can be very confusing but it's important to get it right not just for safety but also to maximise the driving experience, save fuel and ensure you are not over the legal limit. Many vehicles on the road are but you might not realise if you are getting close to the limit. In this simple, 5 minute guide, we describe how we calculated our own. We hope you find this video useful https://youtu.be/XNUg4E5uDUU

Solar charging problems

We bought our new Pilote motorhome in 2021 and had the Xperience control panel which operated both electrics and water supply changed to a Scheiber panel. This, like the original is not wired to charge the vehicle battery from solar, so our dealer suggested a separate MPPT solar charger which has now been installed. See how we are currently getting on with this setup in the video  https://youtu.be/CgpzAQHqYFs

Kicked off a campsite - told to leave

We've never posted sensational or so-called 'click-bait' videos before on YouTube. And, we don't intend to start. A video we posted recently concerned our experiences of a campsite we visited in the Lake District and we simply used the title of this post (above) as the title of the video on YouTube. This video https://youtu.be/D-BelQhU8fs has received far more views and comments than any video we have produced before. We're nowhere near as prolific as some YouTuber's at producing and uploading videos but from the small pot we have, this video gained more interest. We stayed at Maryport and at Bassenthwaite in Cumbria. We had a great stopover in Maryport near the harbour on land which appears to attract overnight stays and is documented on relevent websites as a free stopover but things turned sour at a private site in Bassenthwaite - and for no apparent reason. We were told to leave and it wasn't our fault.
